Features
This shader pack contains a displacement shader generating offshore ocean surface aspect, and foam, from physical parameters such as wind speed, swell amount, etc...
Our model is based on physical oceanography, giving us realistic wave animation and look. It's not based on Jerry Tessendorf's method.
A surface shader is bundled with the displacement shader. This material is designed to be used in conjunction with the displacement shader. It simulates light absorption under different lighting conditions. It also handles caustics.
A real time viewport deformer plugin for 3ds Max and Maya is also bundled. It can be used for previsualization purposes, but also directly to represent the ocean surface.
Shaders available for :
- mental ray standalone
- 3ds Max 9, 2008, 2009, 2010
- Maya 8, 8.5, 2008, 2009, 2010
- Softimage 7.5, 2010
- V-Ray for 3ds Max (only the displacement shader will work, no material)
- We may port it on others rendering engine that supports displacement mapping (ask us if you are interested, this is not an automatic process and will be treated on a case by case basis)
- We can also integrate our C++ libraries it into your rendering engine that supports displacement mapping, contact us for more information.
Operating systems:
- Windows XP/Vista/Seven 32 & 64 bits
- Linux 32 & 64 bits
Trial version
Is fully functional, but limited in resolution at a maximum of 640 x 480. Download the trial.
Licensing system
We have 2 licenses types :
- Nodelocked : it's a single license which is locked to a computer using its hardware information. You need a valid TCP/IP connection and a network card to use this license type. No internet access is needed. It can't be transfered on another computer.
- A 3-pack floating license : you have 3 licenses available for the computers connected on your local network, You can use them for workstations or render nodes. The licenses are taken by process. We have developed our license server (DL3D License manager) to install on one of your computer to manage the licenses.
For example, if you chose:
- quantity = 1 => then you bought a 3-pack of floating licenses, so you get 3 licenses.
- quantity = 2 => 2 packs of 3 licenses, so you have 6 floating licenses.
- etc.
You can use each license with any of the software : 3dsMax, Maya or Softimage. Updates which are bugs fixes or speed optimization are free of charge.
We have developed our software the DL3D Products Updater to check if a newer version of our product exist.
Maya notes for floating licenses :
- Normal rendering with Maya will take one floating license, but if you use Maya Batch, another floating license is taken, even if the rendering process takes place on the same computer as Maya batch is launched in another process.
