Volume texture shader for mental ray

Features

This shader pack contains two simple volumetric shaders :

  1. A 3d solid texture rendering shader (iso-surface extraction)
  2. A participating media shader (smoke, fog - no photon mapping support yet)

These shaders can be combined. For example, you can put a 3d solid texture into one or more participating media volumes. Multiple participating media will blend.

Shadow casting is correctly handled in most cases.

Platforms

Shader for mental ray 3.5+, compatible with :

  • mental ray standalone
  • 3ds Max 9, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
  • Maya 8.5, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011
  • Softimage/XSI 7.5, 2010
  • We may also port it on others rendering engine (VRay, RenderMan, ask us if you are interested, this is not an automatic process and will be treated on a case by case basis)

Supported operating systems :

  • Windows XP/Vista/Seven 32 and 64 bits
  • Linux 32 and 64 bits
